Top Cited Scholars

Scilit selects the Top Cited Scholars list annually to recognize scholars who have demonstrated significant influence in their scientific field, measured by the proportion of Top Cited Papers published in the last decade.

Scilit provides two kinds of lists: one is for all the scholars, and the other is for Young Scholars whose academic age is less than 10 years and who stand out on the list for their high-level research and contributions to the academic community.

Evaluation criteria

Inclusion criteria

  • 1

The number of effective Top Cited Papers by this scholar reaches the threshold requirement of this subject

  • 2

The citation of effective Top Cited Papers by this scholar reaches the threshold requirement of this subject

  • 3

If scholars are in interdisciplinary fields, their standardized scores are higher than the threshold for inclusion

Exclusion criteria

  • 1

Researchers who have committed scientific misconduct

  • 2

Researchers who have high levels of self-citation

  • 3

Researchers who have not published articles in the last three years

Note: All calculations are based on the Scilit data. However, due to the algorithm's limitations, some scholars may inevitably be missed from our list; thanks for your kind understanding.

Top Cited Publications

Scilit selects papers that perform in the top 1% based on the number of citations received compared to other papers published in the same field in the same year (at least one citation).

When calculating the publications published in the current year, we need to set the threshold as the previous year's. For example, when we update in September 2022, the publications that meet the following two requirements could be included in the TCP:

  • Citation in the top1%;
  • Citations higher than the 2021 threshold.

Exclusions: Retracted/withdrawn articles are not involved in TCP.
